Krystle Caponio


Krystle is a recognized leader at the intersection of law, innovation, and the space industry. She spearheads LeoLabs global legal efforts including corporate governance, licensing, intellectual property, and employment matters, and serves as corporate secretary.

Krystle Caponio is a legal executive with a decade of experience in the commercial space industry. She specializes in regulatory compliance for space operations, international transactions, government and commercial contracts, as well as management and corporate governance.

Prior to joining LeoLabs, Caponio served as General Counsel at Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems, Inc. in Irvine, California. Prior to this, Caponio worked at Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), during her tenure serving in the roles of Legal Counsel, Trade Compliance Officer, and Contracts Officer.

Caponio’s experience has enabled her to become a strategic leader with focus on building and managing legal and compliance departments within growing aerospace start-ups. In 2018, Caponio received a prestigious First Chair Award as Top Compliance Counsel. The First Chair Awards recognizes America’s most innovative and accomplished in-house counsel for their achievements and significant contributions to the legal community.

Caponio graduated with College Honors from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Philosophy minor. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for all three years. Caponio is currently attending the Graziadio Business School at Pepperdine University, pursuing a Master of Science in Management.
